Population Adults with type 2 diabetes and stage-II periodontitis.
Intervention Non-surgical periodontal therapy with adjunctive hyaluronic acid gel.
Comparison Non-surgical periodontal therapy alone (without adjunctive hyaluronic acid gel).
Outcome Patients receiving the adjunctive HA gel had significantly better periodontal health improvement and reduced HbA1c levels compared to those without HA. No significant adverse effects were reported for the adjunctive HA gel therapy.

Both groups improved periodontal measures equally, with no between-group difference in the primary CAL outcome. Adjunctive HA gel produced a small but statistically significant HbA1c reduction (about 0.13%) seen only in the HA arm, of uncertain clinical importance in this 26-patient trial.
